How to Easily Hypnotize Someone

Hypnotizing someone is actually a lot easier than people seem to think.  The following steps will help you get started. Before you start hypnotizing your subject, you may need to talk a few things over with them.  You should let them know that being hypnotized will probably not feel strange, in fact it will usually feel very normal.  They will just feel completely relaxed.  You also might want to let them know that they will still be able to hear everything you’re saying.  They will also still be aware of what’s going on around them.

If the person is worried about being out of control, you can assure them that their morals or safety will not be compromised.  They will not ever do anything that would go against their morals or put them in danger.  You should answer any other questions they might have and ease their concerns.  It will be harder to hypnotize them if they’re worried or stressed.

To get started, have the person sit or lie down in a position that is comfortable to them.  During the entire session, you’ll want to use a slow, soothing voice when you speak.  Tell them to close their eyes, take deep breaths, and relax.  Now, you can start to help them relax even further.  Have them focus on each body part individually and visualize it relaxing.  Talk them through each part of their body.  If they still aren’t fully relaxed, you can repeat the process over until they are.

Once they are completely relaxed and in the trance, you can start to give them suggestions.  You’ll probably want to follow a script for this.  Just remember not to give them suggestions that they would never normally do.  This could bring them out of the hypnosis.  Once you’re finished, you’ll need to slowly bring them back out of hypnosis.  You’ll want to explain that you’re going to count down from 5 and when you do, they’ll wake up and feel relaxed and refreshed.  Then you count down and tell them to open their eyes.  This is the only time you may not want to use a soothing voice.

It may be hard to tell at first if the person is in hypnosis.  Here are a few signs you may look out for.  When the person is in hypnosis, you may notice that their breathing will change.  Also, their muscles should look completely relaxed, the arms and legs may even twitch a little.  Other signs you might notice are eyelids that flutter or difficulty swallowing.  These are just some of the signs you can use to tell if the person is in hypnosis.

This is pretty much all there is to hypnosis.  You should keep in mind that, unless you’re trained, you should only do this for fun.  While hypnosis is relatively harmless, you don’t want to try to fix any fears or habits, recover memories, or change their behavior unless you’re properly trained.  You may want to discuss what you plan on doing during hypnosis with the person you’re hypnotizing.  This lets both of you have a clear picture of what’s going to happen.  The most important thing you can do is be responsible.  While hypnosis can be fun and interesting, it shouldn’t be used for unethical purposes.
