Learn How Hypnosis Really Works

There has been a lot of information come up about hypnosis lately.  More and more people are getting interested in it.  Some want to learn how to hypnotize their friends for fun.  Some want to learn self hypnosis to get cure problems like smoking or being overweight.  Others want to learn hypnosis to enhance their personal and professional lives.

There are many reasons why people are starting to learn hypnosis.  However, most of these people have no idea how hypnosis actually works.  In fact, a lot of people still have the idea that hypnotists can just wave a watch in front of you and completely control your mind.  Fortunately, this is not what actually happens.  If you’re interested in learning hypnosis or would just like to know how it works, then this article will help you understand the basics.

Before we get into how hypnosis works, let’s look at what it is.  Hypnosis is a dreamlike state between waking and sleeping.  In this state you are extremely relaxed and open to suggestions.  Contrary to popular belief, you are not asleep during hypnosis.  You are actually fully alert.  In fact, researchers believe that everyone goes in and out of hypnosis over 100 times per day.  Have you ever been sitting, just staring into space?  Suddenly, someone gets your attention and you get startled.  While you were sitting there, you were in a hypnotic state.

Hypnotists will put you in this state to access your subconscious mind.  Your subconscious mind controls about 90% of everything you do.  The rest is done by your conscious mind.  The conscious mind is what solves problems and makes decisions.  You use your conscious mind any time you have to consciously think about something.  Any other time, you are using your subconscious mind.  In fact, you use your subconscious mind when you perform everyday activities like driving or even just walking.  You’re subconscious stores all of your past experiences and memories, feelings, and habits.

While hypnotized, you let go of your conscious mind, to have complete access to your subconscious.  During this state, you are very susceptible to suggestions.  This is why, if you’ve ever seen stage hypnotism, the volunteers will perform crazy stunts in front of a huge audience.  If you’re working with a hypnotist, they can give you suggestions to fix whatever problem you have.  You may want to get rid of a bad habit or work through a fear.  Hypnotists can even help you recover lost memories.  Even though these hypnotists have access to your subconscious, keep in mind that they can’t make you do anything you don’t want to do.

This is the simplest explanation of how hypnosis works.  You can find several other more complicated explanations on the internet.  As you can see, hypnosis is not as magical as some people make it out to be.  Hypnosis can be a beneficial tool to use, whether you use it for yourself or others.  There are several courses you can buy that will show you step by step how to hypnotize yourself or someone else.  There are even courses that will show you how to hypnotize people without them even knowing.
